Our Returns Policy

How to make a return

Inform us of your desire to return the item within 7 days.

Obtain a returns number from us this is best done via email.

On a piece of paper write the returns number, name of the person who ordered the items, the reason for the return and attach it to the outside of the box.

You pay and arrange for your own returns.

Goods must be received by us within 14 days of your receipt.

Credit must be in the same form of payment originally used for purchase and will usually be made within 30 days of our receiving your return.

We want you to be satisfied when you shop with us. However, occasionally, we know that you may want to return items. For information on this process please see our returns policy below.

No Fault Returns

The United Kingdom’s Distance Selling Regulations stipulate that as a consumer, you have the right to cancel the contract for the purchase of any item within seven working days of delivery. This applies to all of our products. In this case, you are responsible for the safe return of the product to us, including the cost of doing so. We may be able to arrange this on your behalf for a fee which will be advised at the time of booking such a service. If you have decided to cancel your order or wish to return your products to Thesewingstudio.co.uk we will refund your credit card within 30 days of cancellation or from when we receive the goods, whichever is later. The goods must be unused and ‘as new’ in their original box and packaging including all manuals and accessories and fit for resale. We can only accept the return of opened items if they are faulty. You must notify us within 7 days from date of delivery and we will issue you with a Returns Authorisation Number. The Returns Authorisation number will be valid for 14 days and it will be your responsibility to return the goods to us at your own cost and risk (we must receive the item back within 14 days of your receipt). We reserve the right to deduct re-stocking fee or a delivery cost recovery fee from the amount refunded in accordance with the European Union distance selling directive. If goods are received back ‘as new’ but incomplete with missing components and accessories we will charge the cost of the accessories to you. Goods received back in any condition other than ‘as new’ will be returned back to you, at your cost. Software must still be sealed. If all the criteria above are not met we may return the goods to the sender at the seller’s expense, refuse delivery or to charge you our fees and expenses if the product is received otherwise than in accordance with these requirements. This does not affect your Statutory Rights.

Faulty Returns – Not working on arrival

A product is deemed to be faulty on arrival if it shows symptoms of a failure preventing basic operation upon its first use out of the box. In such instances please contact customer services within 7 days from the delivery date. You can then either return the faulty item directly yourself or we will organise a collection. Upon receipt of the goods and confirmation of the fault by our product support team you will be offered the following options:

1. A replacement – this item will be shipped to you at our own expense.

2. A repair – the repaired item will be shipped to you at our own expense. Please note that once repaired the product is no longer eligible for replacement.

3. A full refund – provided the item has been verified faulty and is complete with all accessories in its original box and packaging.

 

If the product is not deemed to be faulty by our product support team then you will be offered the following options:

1. Return of the goods – the cost of delivery charged to you.

2. Refund – the invoice cost less any applicable delivery and collection charges provided the product is ‘as new’ and complete with all accessories in its original box and packaging. If the condition of the product or the packaging is poor then we reserve the right to impose a charge to cover re-packaging costs. Missing accessories will also be charged to you. The manufacturers guarantee will apply to all items reported to be faulty after 7 days from delivery.

Please be aware you are responsible for ensuring the product is suitably packaged for return. The cost of any damage caused due to insufficient packaging will be charged to you. This charge will be at least 15% of the purchase value. The goods must be returned in the original packaging. We recommend the original packaging be kept for no less than the term of the warranty in case of a fault developing or any other transit requirements you might have.

This does not apply to faults caused by accident, neglect or misuse, for which there will be no refund or exchange. This returns policy does not affect your legal rights

A good domestic sewing machine should give years of good service however its very important you choose the right machine to suit your sewing needs, if you don’t it will bring you constant hart ache and disappointment every time you take it out to use it. We carry Husqvarna, Bernina, Janome and Brother sewing machines because we know these brands give good reliable service and we can continue to support you with regards to spare parts and repairs for many years to come. We also know these brands are well supported both nationally and worldwide should you ever need a machine service or spare part / accessory. We don’t stock unknown brands or even some of the better known brands because we can not guarantee any or the above.
The most important thing to consider is how thick is the thickest fabric you will ever want to sew with the machine? The machine can have all the features and functions you need but if it’s not capable of sewing your denim jeans or curtain header tape you will want to throw it through the window! The sturdier the machine is; the better.
