Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 Sewing Machine Review

The brand has a fantastic reputation for building great machines. The Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 sewing machine is a great machine that’s been built with quilters in mind. However, it’s not just sold to people who quilt- it’s a wonderful machine for anyone looking for a moderately-priced machine with fantastic features and good workspace! Anyone who sews garments, bags, or home décor will appreciate everything the Ambition 630 has to offer them!

As with the majority of Pfaff sewing machines, the Quilt Ambition 630 comes with the Original IDT System already built in! This system works just as a walking foot does (you won’t need to purchase that extra foot to get even better results that you would with a walking foot!), meaning that the machine works to feed your fabric through at a very even rate, working in tandem with the feed dogs and timing of the sewing machine itself. This is great for when you need to keep layers together, such as when you’re quilting straight lines, working on applique, working with slippery garment fabrics such as silk, or have thick fabric like denim or canvas running through the machine. It’s a feature that every maker will appreciate having!

The Pfaff Quilt Ambition 630 sewing machine comes packed with all the utility, buttonhole, and decorative stitches you could want. It’s programmed with 201 stitches, 7 of those being1-step buttonholes! Every stitch is customisable by length and width, where applicable, and easily changed directly on the machine’s screen.

You’ll love the large touch screen on the front of the machine. It’s in full colour so you’ll easily be able to discern everything on the screen. The screen is 95mm by 54mm which is plenty large enough without taking up every bit of the front of the machine. You’ll still have a few buttons to work with such as the start/stop button, automatic cutter, needle up/down, and more, all of which are very clearly marked for ease of use. There’s also a speed slider on the machine so that you can control the maximum speed at which your machine sews.

One of our favourite features of this sewing machine is that it has a top-loading bobbin. Top-loading bobbins are less likely to jam and are easier to dust and oil when needed. We also love how easy it is to load the bobbin into the machine, since you can see everything as you set it.

You’ll love how much workspace this machine offers, especially if you’re a quilter! You’ll find that you have a whopping 7.5 inches of workspace to the right of the needle and a tall throat space so that you can very easily roll up larger quilts as you work on them! Large throws, twin sized, even full-sized quilts can run through this machine with ease!

If you find that you need a little extra space around the machine itself, you may consider adding an extension table to your purchase. Extension tables are great for all sewists, providing a bit of extra support as you work on larger projects. They help to keep your fabric supported and keep it from pulling away from your needle in order to keep your sewing straight and on point.
